I have a client that is having trouble printing with their HP Laserjet 4L. They have 3 workstations networked Peer to Peer. The Workstation that is directly hooked up to the printer prints great. My problem lies with the other two workstations. I reboot the networked workstations and they will print one document, but when I go to print the second, I get an error message saying that it was unable to print due to an unknown system error. I have never seen an error like it. I downloaded and installed new drivers on all of the machines and still get the same error. I have been trying to figure this out for over a week now and it is driving me nuts! I have to dial into their network using PCAnywhere and then jump from Workstation to Workstation. They are about 1000 miles away from me so unfortunately I can't just go to the office. I would appreciate any advice that anybody can give me.

I wonder if the print queue is full. The one will print directly to the printer and the rest are stuck with a full print queue. They could get one job to go through and the next one gets there before the first one is deleted.Just a thought.

shovel204,
I finally convinced my client to move the printer to another workstation because I had a weird feeling that the printer port was bad on the workstation that it was hooked up to. I had him move the printer and I dialed in and re-routed the network. It worked great! I told hin that he should take that computer in to get repaired. I really appreciate your response though, this problem was driving me nuts.
Thanks again,

Just go to the computer where the printer is conected
erase all the files in windows/spool/printers.
The network printer will work fine.
The only problem is that you have to erase those files periodically if not the unknown system error will come back.

I know you have solved the problem and good for you....
Another thing to always keep in mind is to clear your tempory envioroment in 95/98. This will cause your printing to stop as well.

Hope this helps
