We are having an issue with HP Laserjet 4250 printers needing fuser replacements when the printers are relatively new, under 2 years old. They are shared by small groups of people and not abused. This is way too early for an HP laser, which would normally go 4 to 5 years without needing major service.

I have had 5 in the last 3 months. One, reported to me this morning, is only 15 months old and has only printed 49k pages. Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Have you upgraded the firmware? I have seen similar reports & a firmware upgrade was suggested. Not sure if this would help.
Have you taken this up with HP? I think they may be aware of problems with these printers.

SoupRice,

HP may also consider a fuser to be other than "major service".

I work for a competitor, and in many of the low-end multifunction machines we sell (and service), fusers have an expected life of 30-35k prints.
