I am currently setting up a new SCO Uniware 7.1 server. There is one major issue that is currently holding me back. I cannot control the number of lines per page that are getting printed!

Can anyone help? The printer is an HP LaserJet 4100N. I have a test text file that I send to the printer. Every time this text file is printed, the printer prints 70 lines per page all the time.

The lines per page within the printer menu is currently set to 56. I've tried issuing the command:- 'lp -d<printername> -o -l56 test.txt'. and get the results '10/56*48 | bcC' printed.

Can anyone please help? I need to be able to control the number of lines per page from a command line before I can get an application printing properly.

Can any replies also be sent to grayham.mount@oaib.demon.co.uk

Many Thanks.

Hi Tony,

The script I'm using is the standard SCO Uniware 7.1 generated from the hpnpcfg program. Would this matter?

Cheers.

By using 'netcat' how could I control the number of lines printed per page from the command line?

Cheers.

The point of netcat is to confirm that the problem is in your interface script and not in the printer or the data you are sending. Netcat adds nothing, takes away nothing- it just does what it is told. Tony Lawrence
