I installed a printer driver for a HP Laserjet 4000 on a new W2K PC, this printer is shared with several people. After the installation on 2 workstation out of 4, the printer is printing very light, and from the other 2 it is normal dark. I checked with the HP website, downloaded the newest drivers etc. but still same problem any ideas what else I can do, the user uses the printer to send out massive mailings and need to have the print darker.
We did put in a new cartridge also just in case.
Thanks

There are at least two ways this could be happening from outside the printer's own settings.

Did the Windows printer driver's EconoMode (save toner) get turned on? Go to Start, Settings, Printers, right-click on your printer's icon, open Properties, select Finishing tab, look at Print Quality box. Is it set to the dafault "Best Quality"?

Another possibility is that the program doing the printing could be set differently in those 2 computers. Did you try printing from a different program, such as plain NotePad to rule out that possibility?
