We have a HP 2420 with a jetdirect internal printer server. There are about 15 workstations (XP and 2000) connected to it by tcp/ip printing. At least once or twice a day people will try to print and nothing happens. You look at the printer and it says ready and the light is green on the card at the back of the printer. If you turn the printer off and then on again the jobs start coming out, sometimes with garbage that you need to cancel, but mostly clean jobs. Any idea what is happening.
Thanks.

How much memory (and is it OK) do you have in the printer? Has this always been a problem, or did it just start? Sounds like you might just be "overworking" the poor thing! If you just started having the problem, I'd start with re-installing the software.

It's a brand spanking new printer with 64 MB ram and it started the day we installed it.

I'd contact HP, and ask. You may need warranty replacement.

I've also seen the internal JetDirect cards go belly up. We had an HP4100 that did just that. As long as it's under warranty, call HP. Those cards don't come cheap.
