This is my second request for an answer. I just bought an HP2100 and there is no sign or hint of an AIX and/or UNIX driver for this printer coming from HP and the attendant paperwork that is included in the box. Usually there is another printer (as in a precedent printer) with the same engine as the newer printer, that works perfect with this printer. Does anyone have any information indicating which printer emulates the HP Laserjet 2100?

thanks.

Mark.

Unfortunately there is no driver for that printer with AIX at the moment...ONly
the ones listed below. The book you have on your printer should show what it
emulates....most do the hplj4 but that is no guarantee. HP will not create the driver for you...so you either have to create a driver for the printer yourself...or find out if it can emulate a standard hpj4 (I would try it and see if it works...but no guarantee)
I do not personally know what it will emulate, but you might try the si or the hplj4...
Sorry

to all,

hello...another prob from me...

im using AIX 4.3.3 and i want to connect my hp laser printer (a network printer). i tried it and i wasn't successfull:

as im about to "Add a Print Queue" i only got 2 options; user-defined (backend)and remote.

which one do i have to select? do i need to re-install my AIX to upload other file sets?

Stefano,
I can't tell you what fileset you must install but
you can easily install a bundle (smit install_bundle),
i believe you must install a bundle called app-dev and after that you need to install the hpjetdirect drivers, otherwise you are not able to install an HP Laserjet Printer with an HPJetDirectCard...

Anyone else ??

If you want to do the hpjetdirect card the fileset is

printers.hpJetDirect.attach

You also need to look to see if the following filesets are loaded.

printers.rte
bos.rte.printers

Do a lslpp -l | grep printers.rte
lslpp -l | grep bos.rte.printers
and see if it comes back loaded and committed.

If you only have two options, usually printers.rte are not installed...but
for network printers the printers.hpJetDirect.attach needs to be installed.

is a good document on hpjetdirect card
