Sounds like an output sensor. Is it reporting a "Paper Jam" or "Wrong Paper Size?"
As the paper journeys through the printer, there are sensors that pick up the leading edge of the paper. If the printer doesn't see the sensor being tripped within x milliseconds of the previous sensor, it assumes that there is a problem; either the paper has jammed or the wrong paper size was inserted. Either way, the printer will stop.
The upside to this, however, is that those switches are usually optical sensors; either the switch slips out of its holder, or the optical sensors have dust in them; a good cleaning and blow out all the sensors with compressed air will often fix the problem.
I have cleaned sensors and replaced the toner cartridge the printer is still having problems in the morning when I first startup my computer it will work the rest of the day after the first print in the morning stops and I unplug and restart the printer
I took the printer home over the weekend and connected it to another computer I experienced the same problem I cleaned the feed roller The problem seemed to occur when the printer has been in powersave for 5 or 6 hrs then when I print a test page the printer awakens and the sheet will advance about 2 inches I turn unplug the printer and it will work fine I wait for it to go in standby mode and try to print it is ok but if I let it set for several hours in standby it will advance about 2" and I have to unplug and plug bac in to get it to work
