HP laser jet leaves toner particles on paper

I have an HP LaserJet 5L printer. I bought it for $10, and for that price, it's a pretty decent printer. But the only problem it has is when I print, it leaves particles of toner on the paper in random spots that I can usually pick off with my fingernail. I've taken one printer class and I remember them saying something about that. I believe there's a carona wire in there that is supposed to clean off the primary drum or the transfer roller. I think that was the cleaning stage of the printing. I would bet that this is probably the problem, but I am not sure if it's what would cause this problem or if there's another common problem that would cause the printer to leave toner particles on the paper. Any suggestions?

I kind of wonder if a maintenance kit would help. Here's what the maintenance kit i'm looking at comes with.

There is no corona wire on that printer. You proably need a new fuser if the toner is not fusing. The reandom dots is something else, proably the cartridge or the machine needs to be cleaned.

The toner cartridge is brand new and it is the real cartridge, not an aftermarket cartridge. So I need to just go through and clean everything inside?

A good idea. Check the fuser roller for contamination.

What does a fuser roller look like that is contaminated? It seems also that in some training I had for printer repair, there are certain parts inside of a laser printer that you don't want to touch. Which parts are those? I know I wouldn't want to touch the main drum but that is inside the toner cartridge anyway. Probably want to stear clear of the transfer roller also. But the fuser roller would be pretty safe to touch (as long as it isn't hot). But what would I use to clean it? And are all my assumptions right?

I would not touch the fuser rollers. Just use a dry lint free cloth and try to wipe off any particles on the fuser. If ti is contaminated you will see black dots on it.
