In MS Word I can't print symbols to my HP LJ4 Plus printer but they print fine on other newer printer HP's website no help

Can you print from other applications such as Excel, Powerpoint, etc?

Could just need a driver update.
Thank You for your response carty I can print from other apps.

I would still go for a driver update. Also, your printer setup dialog will give you a yes/no choice on whether or not to print text as graphics. Which ever way you have it set, try the other.
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most ...

Another thing to try is selecting the Always spool RAW datatype option in the Print Processor screen in the printers properties.
Is the HP LaserJet 4 Plus a networked printer or locally attached to your PC?

If it is locally attached does your machine have the parallel port mode set to ECP? Change the parallel port mode to EPP, SPP or compatible.

If your printer is a networked printer does it print to a Novell queue? I have seen printing to the UNC path not print symbols and just leaves them blank. Capture the queue to a printer port.
