Hello,

I have an HP Laptop that when it is set on a docking station gets stuck at the HP bootup screen. Diagnostic have found no hardware issues with the laptop, the OS is in proper working order, tried a brand new docking station and experienced the same issues, sent it to HP with the docking station for support and they found no problems, bought a new docking station just to test - yet the issue persists.

Has anyone run into this before or have any ideas as to what is causing the issues with this laptop?

Thanks - any feedback would be appreciated,

Jason

It might be searching for the devices...is there a driver disk for the docking station? My Dell had a separate LAN chip in the DS, yet Windows would still load w/o the driver.

I think the HP folks gave you the bum's rush. If they said it is fine, then ask to see it working in their environment with a docking station and you will believe them. Those multi-pins are sensitive, make sure that both the port and the station are clean, maybe even some contact cleaner?

Best of luck.

The funny thing is it worked for a year without a problem. There is no driver disk for the docking station that came with it nor is there anything on the website. I will try to clean it, that could be the problem.

Thanks for the info.

When mine went down I found a crystal of silica gel that had escaped and lodged itself in the multi-pin socket.

Don't kno wif htis applies to HP, but it might be worth a shot. I had a Dell laptop whose CD ROM drive had come ever so slightly loose in the multifunction bay. It worked fine until it was docked, then all i got was a very cryptic message during post (it didn't say "Hey, your CD ROM Drive has come loose and i don't know what to do" more like "completley random error will now ruin your day"). Anyways, i re-seated the drive and presto..everthing worked just peachy.
Worth a try for 10 seconds of work....
