HP Jetdirect or 2000 server

Hello, at the moment I have a HP laserjet 5 attached to a HP jetdirect 300x external print server, when I first connected it on the network, server 2000 detected it and prompted me for sharing etc. I did not seem to need to install the HP Jetdirect software. I am know going to connect a second 300x external print server with a different shared printer, will server 2000 auto detect this also,or will I need to download and install the JetDirect admin software? Is there any need for the jetdirect software?

There should be no need to run the admin software as long as you are able to assign an IP address to the JetDirect box.
