I have completley lost my plot. I have a w2k cluster with networked hp printers on it (printer ip's are set up) and i want to be able to print from solaris 8 to these printers. I have installed HP Jetdirect but I'm clueless on what to do next i'm out of my technical comfort zone (where's my hammer) any tips on Jetdirect setup and config.

please help the stellas on me [3eyes]

Hi,

You have installed hp jetdirect under solaris.

1)Edit /etc/hosts file, and put your printer_name and ip_address. eg hp_laser 10.200.10.100. save your /etc/hosts file.

2)Usually, when you installed Hp Jetdirect, it will install under /opt folder (mine installed under /opt). Change directory to /opt/hpnpl.

3)Run hppi (./hppi).

4)Choose option 1 - for spooler admin.

5)Choose option 1 again - add printer to local spooler.

6)Follow on screen instruction.

Let us know if you stuck with anything.
