HP G62 White Screen Issue

Power up HP G62 Laptop get HP splash screen followed by a white screen until the Windows drivers kick in then the screen is fine.
If I boot into safe mode or boot off a dos cd, the screen is white. Seem white in dos mode and fine in Windows mode. Running Windows Vista.
Also external monitor works fine with no problems.

Have you checked the LCD cable at both ends? made sure it is seated good?

no, just figure they were fine since I have no problem with the video after windows boot.s
