Hi,

I have no background on any HP EVA storage devices and need your esteemed help.

In an EVA box, configured with RAID 5, is there any such field called the RAID Stripe size like in other RAID Storage Devices where we can define the stripe size ?

What is the difference between a normal RAID and a VRAID ?

Thanks and regards.

There is no configurable stripe size in the EVA.

Vraid is quite complex internally, but essentially, it spreads every LUN over every disk in the EVA. (In the disk group actually, but best practice is to configure all physical disks in an EVA in a single group.)

Normal, or traditional raid if you will, makes you manually or semi-wizard-assisted, select which physical disks make up the raid-set.

Bottom line is the EVA is very easy to configure. Select LUN size, vraid 1 or vraid 5, which host(s) get the LUN. You're done. The difference between vraid1 and vraid5 is the availability. In all but the very smallest of configurations, there's no performance difference between them.
