I installed an HP Photosmart C7200 Series Wireless All In One printer on my Acer Aspire. All has been well and it has tested out great. Recently there has been a notice pop up when I am shutting down saying hpqtra08.exe not responding, which I think is associated with the HP Digital Imaging Monitor, that is loaded startup by default. You have to END NOW or wait until it's done shutting down. Also, another window follows saying END PROGRAM - DeviceIO Notification Window; wanting to shut down. Any suggestions for the cause of this new quirk? I know I could just remove the Imaging Monitor from Startup but that's the wusse's way right? Thanks, Jack

I'd be inclined to uninstall everything to do with HP Digital Imaging Monitor and just go with the basic printer and scanner drivers.

If it was Vista, I would suggest putting the service on Delayed start, that can help, but no use in XP.

Certainly I agree that HP bundle a lot of unnecessary stuff with their driver, But you will need to check that you don't loose functionality, if you get rid entirely.

Just for kicks, run some thougough anti-malware scans. I recently saw an infection that somehow did things like this to the HP monitor software. After the infection was removed the HP software started behaving properly.

So if you were to remover the driver, I would go to Add/Remove. The associated programs are (1)HP Customer Participation (2)HP Imaging Device Funtions (3)HP Photosmart All-In-One Driver Software (4)HP Photosmart Essential (5)HP Smart Web Printing (6)HP Solution Center (7)HP Update. The obvious would seen #2, but the word "Funtions" concerns me. It might be more than just the little Image Monitoring Program. Smah suggests an anti-malware scan. I have a free program if it's good enough to pick it up I'll try. The kink in all this is I have this same loaded on 2 other laptops and there is not a problem. Thanks for all the good help so far. jack
