Has anyone got a HP Deskjet 990cxi working with a Win CE based thin client? I'm using a Boundless/Neoware Capio II on a W2K/XPS system.

If so, what driver are you using? Searching this forum suggests HP Deskjets give a lot of probs. I've tried the Corporate User (Terminal Server) one on the HP site as well as the builtin drivers for 855C, 855cxi, 670C, 870C amongst others.

The printer works fine when attached to my Linux workstation via the ICA client, even using the HP 990cxi driver.

I have to create the printer manually. Once created, I find that bi-directional is enabled despite what the HP site says. If I try to change it, I get a "Printer settings could not be saved. Operation could not be completed" message. I get this even if I try and change the printer driver. Anyone know how to get around this?

I also changed the Capio BIOS to make the Parallel port output only rather than its default of bi-directional - no luck there either.

OK, I've cracked it.

The problem was to do with why the printer wasn't being autocreated. This seemed to be down to the Win CE ICA client settings. Once I fixed that problem, the HP Deskjet 990C series drivers work fine. I also had to fiddle about with client driver mappings. was a big help.
