I am trying to set up this printer for my sons laptop. He has an IBM thinkpad, with XP installed. I was given this printer by my brother and he assured me it worked but did not have the install disk. I went to the HP website and downloaded the install executable with the drivers. I have tried to use the wizard and I have also tried using the HP help. When attempting to install, I keep getting stuck when the install wizard asks for the location of the unisys.ini file. I did a search on his drives and it did not come up with any results. When using the HP help, it tells me that I do not have a printer attached, but when using the MS wizard, it recognizes the new hardware.
A couple of things that I am not sure about so I will include here. He has a partitioned hard drive, half for school use, and half for personal use. He is in high school and they lock down the school side pretty tight, but I am pretty sure he has admin rights for the personal side. I did a Google search on unisys.ini, but really came up with nothing useful. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
