HP DeskJet 722c

Having trouble connecting a DeskJet 722c to an older computer that has had the drives re-formatted and a clean install of Win ME. Got the latest drivers from HP. Using a parallel connection. This machine has used this printer both directly and more recently on a network. I just keep getting the message "Computer and Printer cannot communicate". Anyone have a suggestion??

Any other changes since it was last used on LPT:. Usual cause is BIOS setting for the parallel port, where you can choose the parallel port modes.
Any errors noted in the hardware displays?
