hp deskjet 5850 prints blank page

Hi,
I have put a new black cartridge and the problem started since then.
I have checked that cartridge is full and fine. Even installed another one to double check. The hp software also shows cartridge ink level full. Now, if I print, color print page comes fine and greyscale also. But if I print using black cartridge only option, nothing comes up.
The test page prints fine as it comes from colr cartridge I guess.When I select use black only, the test page does not print. Again blank pages comes out. Now, i did self test, like holding power button, pressing resume button 4 time and realising power button. a blank page is printed.

Can anyone help please? I am lost.

Just a thought.

Did you take the tape off of the nozzles on the new cartridge?

yes, I did. Any other idea ? I know the problem is not with printer as substituting back the near empty cartridge still prints.

You have to assume then that the cartridge is defective.

Is the replacement carteidge HP?

Is the old one HP?

Are the two cartridges that failed from the same mfg?

You'd be amazed at how many times that's the case.
