HP Deskjet 1120c printing fuzzy imaging problems.......

My HP Deskjet 1120 has developed a problem of printing what can best be described as fuzzy or double-glazed images. The printer/driver(dj176)combination prints perfectly well when printing ordinary type. I might also point out that, the HP driver(dj176) was originally developed for the ME/2000 platform and not the XP-platform that I am currently running.
P.S. I´ve tried using the driver toolbox to help balance/adjust the printer heads. This does not seem to cause any significant changes on the positive side.

Any suggestions to solving the matter will be most appreciated. Thank you.

Clean the stirp Encoder and try the printer settings use the best Quality. I think you will need a new carriage assembly to sort out this problem.

Thank U for your reply. I believe you might be right. Can U possibly inform me of any where, that has a step by step guide as to performing a change of the carriage assembly, especially with concern to the HP 1120.

HI I can't think of any.
It's not to bad if you stop the cartridge carriage in the middle of the carriage. Take the covers off the printer next is the strip encoder. The the carriage bar is next its easy if you take the screws out of each end. The driver belt will need to be taken off and the try to take out the 3 screws out of the back plate this will let you get at the carriage PCB. Take care not to lose the springs on the other side that tension the cartridges.
