We have been running Legato Networker for seven years.
It has been performing rather well over these years,
and we are reasonably satisfied with this solution.
However, we think some costs (support) are a bit high.
We also have some requirements to expand our setup,
probably with disk-to-disk backup and higher capacity
tape drives (probably going from SuperDLT-1 to LTO3).

We have now for various reasons started to look into the
HP Data Protector product. It seems like costs are i bit
lower than for Legato Networker.
But what about the Data Protector?
- Is it really competetive with Legato Networker (or Veritas NetBackup)?
- Anybody have experiences of both products?
- Are there any evalutions or comparative tests available?
