hey guys
having problems finding motherboard manufacturer information. i have an HP D530 Small Form Factor PC. I know its a business computer but it's nice for what i use it for. I am currently at a stand still at getting the motherboard manufacturer (pretty sure it's Intel) and the model number. need help finding it on HPs website. compaq (which i am aware is the same company at HP) has a much more defined space on their site about their computers. cant find the hardware reference that acutally lists whats in the computer itself. need help

You didn't say whether the PC is funcitonal, but for the following, I'm assuming it is. Download and CPU-Z and it will give you info on memory, motherboard, etc.

If it IS an intel board, use the Intel chipset identifier utility to find out more info (northbridge/southbridge)

If it's too old for your processor, it will let you know and where to get the other chipset util.

You looking for a replacement?
I think Asrock are about the only manufacturer still selling socket 478 mATX Intel chipset 865G motherboards; model P4i65G
Don't know where you live so can't really point you to a supplier.
Chances are it won't need a re-install as this uses the same chipset as current board (may however need several drivers installing/re-installing)

If I'm correct, this is the board.

P/N 323091-001; an ASUS P4SD

Nothing about it on ASUS site as it was an OEM board. They're still available priced from about 20 - 300 bucks. It's pretty much a standard micro ATX as far as mounting holes and power/interface connections.

hey thanks guys. its an HP 085CH model. it's older but its functional. thanks so much!!

SkipCox, looking at that Asus number I think the S refers to SIS chipset.
If ghrark is quoting the right info the board has an Intel 865G chipset.
Having replaced a lot of failed boards in Emachines/Compaq/HP and other pre-builts we found that the Asrock board quoted directly replaces the original and in most instances does not need a format because it uses the same chipset.
The choice inevitably will be sourcing a HP replacement or using this Asrock (or another mATX based on the Intel 865G)
Other chipsets will work but will definately require a re-install (besides the Intel chipset is probably the best to get) unless you go with a full upgrade bundle ie; (CPU/motherboard and DDR2 memory)

That was my first thought too Martin. Far as I know, ASUS does mean SiS when they have an S in their model number.

I found the Intel specifications in several places such as

And no mention of a SiS chipset anywhere I looked.

Sure looks like the ASRock board would be a direct replacement and I'd pick it over a "pull" OEM board.
