Dear All,

I have a HP Busines Inkjet 2300.
When you print anything, it prints the first page OK but doesn't spit out the page far enough.
The result is that the next page that follows bumps into the first page resulting in messed up printing on the 2nd page or a paper jam.
So you have to stand in front of the printer and pick out each printed page before the next one arrives.
The printer has the module installed for double-sided printing but if you send it a job to do double sided printing it does not automatically take the page back to print on its back. Instead on its display it tells you to put the page back in the tray and press resume.
Don't know if these 2 problems are related but have a feeling they do.
Any help is most appreciated.
Thanks,

This is a re-curring problem in most of these units. The kicker mechanism gear is not in it's right position. This is caused by pulling a stuck page out by hand instead of letting the unit do it. Requires a lot of dismantling to re-align the gear. HP should do a swap for a re-furb unit for a minimal charge.

Dear Michael,

Thanks for your help! I would like to give it a try. Can you point me to directions on how to align the kicker mechanism?

Thanks again,

Josmaarten

Well,, it's kinda hit and miss, but involves pulling off the gear to the kicker bar, and then rotating the rollers to their home positions. As you do this, you will not see the bar move, but you can tell when the rest of the mech is to a ready position. Replace gear, and try it. The tabs on the bar may have been broken off, in which case it just will not work anymore. I dont have time to mess with these much, but have succeded a few times. Also, note the position of the encoder ring on the left side. It has positioning marks you can line up. Good luck.

Hey, my bad. I was thinking about another unit! Sorry!
I have one on my bench right now, and It appears to be a multi-geared assy. behind the carriage motor.
Behind THAT, is a black gear with a metal lever attatched.
As the gear cluster lifts to engage feed roller, the black gears lever should be pushed down. This all takes place under the large black rollers in the platen. You will see the grey kicker bar in front of the platen flip out when you rotate the large white gear to left of platen. I think that it is that gear cluster that is the culprit. If worn, will not engage the black gear and lever.Cant get a part # yet, but will try.
