When I check the HP web site to find out the maximum paper thickness for the HP 9500, it only says "card stock" for the paper trays. Does anyone know the maximum weight card stock the 9500 can handle?

How about the maximum paper weight the auto duplexer will handle?

Thanks in advance for your help.

From the technical data sheet and user guide of the CLJ 9500 series printer...

Regarding duplexing:
Versatile media handling with support for heavy media up to 200 g/m from standard trays (2-4) and duplexer (up to 220 g/m2 from multipurpose tray).

Standard sizes:
letter, legal, executive, ISO A3, ISO A4, ISO A5, 11x17, JISB4, JIS B5, 8K, 16K
Custom sizes: all

Note :
duplexing is not supported for envelopes,
labels, or transparencies.

Can you translate the gm paper weights to the common paper weights shown on the packages of paper I would buy at a Staples?

Thank you for all your help.

Sorry, but since I have no info on what metrics you use for area or weight it is impossible for me to calculate that.

Please have a look at
Example :

200g/m is equal to...

1 square meter = 1550.003 square inches
1 gram = 0.035273962 ounce

200 grammes is approx. 7.054 ounces

So it would be 7.054 ounces for a media sized 1550.003 square inches.

See for conversion details between g/m2 and pounds per ream of stock paper types.

From that, it appears that 200 g/m2 is between 53 and 54 pound.

For the record, in OUR Staples (UK), paper IS graded in Grams per Square Meter; the most common weights are 70, 80, 90 and 100 g/m2 (so 200 g/m2 is very heavy).
