hp 932c prints continuous pages with nonsense characters

My hp932c now connected to new Dell PC has reverted to unacceptable behavior, i.e. it is printing out 1 to 3 lines of symbols per page continously and will not accept printing jobs. Tried to delete printer from PC but it wouldn't leave and tried to uninstall driver and reinstall new XP driver but printer just kept on being evil. I think it's ill. Had this problem before with old computer and same printer. This printer worked fine with the new PC for a while but now is acting up again. Any fixes?

Have you done a full virus scan lately? This could be bugbear.

If you are on a network, then is almost definatly the bugbear virus. We have had exactly the same problem and had to run an anti-virus programme on evry machine at the same time (as Bugbear copies itself to other machines, we had to ensure that it didn't sneak in behind us).

Try a different printer cable & try reloading the printer driver.

We got it working! First we downloaded McAfee's Stinger program written to combat bugbear and other worms and found nothing with that. Then we did the obvious and went to hp's website and did several printer self tests. That seemed to get rid of our problem. I don't know why, but it worked, (for now.)

We also suffer from this problem, all our networked HP printers print symbols at the same time time, we have to turn them off to stop. Please can you tell me how you resolved this problem (was it a virus or HP problem).
