hp 840c & windows ME

Quick question; I have a Deskjet 840 c which I am trying to fix; apparently, it used to run on Windows 98 fine and then someone installed windows ME. The best that it'll do now is print one page and then the green / orange lights flash.

I have tried it on a Windows 98 box with the original drivers, on the ME box on USB and Parallel with the latest drivers from the HP site all to no avail. (I also tried a couple of different cables.)

Anyone have any idea of suffered from this problem?

It does exactley the same on 98. It prints one page and then the green / orange light affair...

all rather curious really...
