If all trays are set to the same papertype like plain, it will probably try and pick from the lowest tray first as that one is usually the biggest. This is a natural behaviour of HP printers Try set the trays to different media types.
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND IT WAS WORKING FINE AND IT JUST QUIT.
6 MONTHS AGO THEY HAD AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THE TRAY
QUIT AND ALSO THE COLATOR. THEY REPLACE THE LOW VOLT. PS
I REMOVE THE COLATOR AND 2000 SHEET FEEDER AND THE PRINTER WORKS FINE...I FIND THAT I HAVE POWER GOING TO THE PS ON THE 2000 SHEET FEEDER AND THE FUSE IS GOOD BUT THE SHELF WANT RAISE UP FOR THE PAPERFEED. SOMEONE HAS REMOVED THE PS
ON THE BACK OF THE MACHINE (THE ONE WITH FOUR PLUGINS ON IT
(c4781-80104)SO THE RAN A LINE TO THE PRINTER, ONE TO THE COLATOR AND ON TO THE 2000 SHEET FEED. NOW THE SHEET FEEDER
AND THE COLATOR HAVE NO POWER....I TRIED TO MANUALLY MAKE THE SHEET FEEDER GO UP...YOU CAN TURN THE GEARS BY HAND AND THE SHELF GOES UP WITH NO BINDS, BUT WHEN YOU PLUG IN THE 2000 SHEETFEED AND TRY TO MAKE IT GO UP NOTHING...IT IS LIKE
NO POWER..BUT I AM GETTING 110VOLTS TO THE PS. AND LIKE I SAID THE FUSE IS GOOD.
So, the PS is back in place and nothing happen when you power the printer on ?
I assume also that the C-link connector from the formatter of the printer to the tray is seated properly and no connector pins damaged (bent/broken)
Is the C-link connection from the tray passed on to the collator as well ?
Is there any light below/above the number "4" on the 2000 sheet tray ? Usually there will be a blinking error code.
What if you connect only the collator with the printer to the formatter, does that wotk OK ?
If there is a problem with the C-link connection it is likely to impact both the tray and the collator.
Also check the printers evenlog for any messages indicating issues with the tray/collator. Typically a 66.XX.YY error will be shown.
