Hi to all,

Having a situation with an HP 712C printer. It has three light indicators. All three flash continuously ("indicating trouble" as the documentation says). When trying to print, it states "trouble communicating with the printer". HOWEVER, during the install, it does a communication test which PASSES fine. Uninstalled / reinstalled completely three times. All printer setting (LPT1, etc) check out OK. Tried "printing directly to the printer", no go. BIOS set to "ECP + EPP". Reconnected hardware too. When reinstalling, it actually picks up the printer and installs fine. Ink level is fine too. Using W98 S/E. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

grez: Try changing the BIOS setting to something besides ECP+EPP - try Normal. Also make sure you have "bidirectional" checked in your settings.

Hey Treeking! Tried different settings for the BIOS as well as ensured the "bi directional" on the settings. I went to HP's site, and they say if you get all three flashing lights, turn it off, unplug the power and DB25, wait a bit, plug back in. If it doesn't solve the problem, take it in for service. Will be trying that one again, just to be sure, but "been there, done that" too.

Thanks for the other links too on the CD-ROMs. Will check them out!
