HP 690c - Pure Virtual Function error message

A user called our help desk saying that he was getting a "Pure Virtual Function" error message when attempting to print quite a few documents at one time. Does this mean that he was running out of memory? And if so, the printer's memory or RAM? The HP.com support site made it sound as though it's a program error message, but the explanation wasn't clear at all. Any help would be appreciated.
