I can't for the life of me figure out why every time I go to print in tray 3(which is letterhead), the printers attention light starts flashing and it asks why tray 1 isn't loaded with letterhead, even though it is set for plain and it's only the manual feed slot. When I tell it that I want it set for plain, it jumps to tray 3(which ironically is set for plain) and just refuses to print anything out of tray 3. If anyone else has experienced a similar problem, your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If that printer can't figure out which tray to draw from it will default to tray 1 and prompt you for paper. You need to set tray 3 as letterhead on the front panel of the printer.

<b>Heres the thing though... I already have set it for Letterhead. That's why I'm so stuck on what is happening. Under the tray menu, I can scroll through and set the following:

Tray 1 type, tray 2 type, tray 2 size, tray 3 type

I go ahead and set tray 1 to plain, since it's the manual feed. I set tray 2 type to plain, and the size to legal. Then for tray 3, I set it to letterhead. When I go to print, the flashing orange attention light comes up and halts the printer untill it is attended to. It then asks if I could put some letterhead in tray 1, and when I cancel out of that it asks if I want to switch it from letterhead to plain. When I cancel out of that, then it prints from tray 3. But if I hold to this system, I'll have to do this everytime.

Ever run into anything like this?</b>

Sorry, I was confused by your statement

Now that you have letterhead set as tray 3 on the printer, you may need to set it in the driver on your local machine. Goto the Properties of the printer, select the NT Forms tab,and set the paper type/size for each tray there as well.

BTW, which driver are you using? I don't have your problem using PCL 5e.
