HP 5550HDN Toner usage

We currently have a HP 5550hdn colour laserjet printer.
This is basing its toner usage purely on number of pages that is passing through the printer regardless of how much toner is left in the cartridge.
Is there a way of getting around this so i can fully use the toner or even re-fill the cartridges?

The printer calculates the remaining toner amount (toner life) based on several factors :

Regarding re-filling the cartridges I would give that a second thought especially if the printer is still under warranty. Before you go for that solution please also read this :
