HP 5100 display is blank

Hi,

I have a strange problem with my HP Laserjet 5100 printer. I suspect it may be a hardware failure but I was wondering if any one else had experienced this problem.

The display on the printer just goes blank intermittently. It still has the backlight on however. By turning the machine off and then on again the screen comes up with Ready and the display works fine.

This is not stopping the printer working so I am not about to buy a new display for it.

Has anyone had this problem and (I know it's a long shot) got a cheap remedy.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

If you feel like it, you can try and remove the covers of the printer and check the cable from the formatter to the display as it might be loose.
