I have a HP with a 51.22 error code on it and there is nothing in the service manual...The 51 has to do with laser but the .22 is what is confusing any help would be appreciated..

51.2x is a laser error, it could be the laser is off centre, low output from the laser, but its most likely a dust buildup on one of the mirrors or lenses in the laser scanner assembly that simply needs cleaning off,

open it up and give it a good clean with a clean paintbrush and then try it again, if that doesnt help, try reseating the cables to the laser scanner, if that doesnt work, then its time to replace the laser scanner assembly i'm afraid

just for your information, 51.1x is a beam detect error

Thanks for the help if you ever have this problem what i couldnt find was the last number it happened to be the magenta laser unit..

A thing with thwese printers is that they need a GOOD clean once a year including the optics. Pay for somebody to do it it takes a bout 2 hours to do a good job.
