I recently replaced the drum unit C4195A for the HP 4550 Color laser. Now all I get are blank pages!! I followed the instructions, but now I get nothing!! Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have seen these printers eject blank pages, but not typically after installing a new drum. What happens if you attempt to print a configuration page from the control panel. Or if you try and do an engine test. I suspect that both will give you blank pages. I also suspect that when you attempt the configuration page that it will continue spitting out blank pages until the tray runs out of paper.

The issue I have seen with blank pages on these printers is in relation to the ITB Belt. The issue is that some belts cannot locate their home position, and because of this, the printer ejects blank pages. If you have another Transfer Kit, or another one of these printers, you test using a known good ITB Belt. I'm sure that this is most likely the cause of the blank pages.

What is the ITB belt, and is it a part of the drum unit? It worked fine with the previous drum, it was just getting low (20%) and so I was replacing it. Now I wish I had kept it! I can't get the test page to print, it's blank

At the front of the printer, you have 3 drawers. The top drawer holds the Drum, which you've replaced. The middle drawer holds the ITB Belt. The third drawer, holds the paper. There is a handle, just above the paper drawer, that will unlatch the ITB Drawer. Once open, you'll see a unit that has some belt exposed, and blue handles on each side. This is the ITB Belt. And if you have another 4500 or 4550, you can test using their ITB Belt.

Unfortunately, this was donated, and I don't have any others... I would assume that it was the drum, but perhaps the ITB gets unseated or something? Should the belt be cleaned? or can it even be cleaned?

Ahh, well a search of the forum for ITB brought me to another thread with same issue, and an HP page that answered my problem. The tab that opens the laser window broke off the drum, but I actually found it and will try to superglue it shortly... Thanks for the assistance!
