I have a 4500 which prints perfectly in color when using standard bond paper. However when using gloss (designed for laser use) and parchment papers the color in dark areas of the print does not adhere to the paper. In fact it can be rubbed off and/or blisters badly. HP Tech support have dismissed this as a bad batch of paper. The printer previously had no problem with these paper types and it seems strange it is happening to two different types of paper. It does not occur in lighter areas of the page only with heavy color (not just black either)

I believe there is a fuser and/or hv problem but if there are any other suggestions I am all ears.

There is special gloss paper only for Color LaserJet 4500's. The 4500 has a lower fusing temperature than all other color laser printer's (including it's predecessor the Color LaserJet 5). HP makes paper specially designed for the 4500, you can find it on their web site or at your local Staples. Because of the lower temperature, the toner doesn't get hot enough to stick to the gloss paper your are using.
