HP4500 clj prints perfectly but randomly misses a colour. It can be any colour at any time. I may get a few perfect prints then a load of prints with missed colours. There is nothing consistent with it. Any ideas?
The 4500 is an old unit, that is at it's EOL.
If you have used new toners, preferably HP, then the problem lies with the carousel. Check the rotary drive for wear, and blow out the sensor on the top right of it.
H\V contacts may be dirty, the developer PCA may be defective, or you have cheap toners that are blown.
The cost of all this? Buy a refurbed 4550! The key to color printing is keep it clean!!!!
The 4500 needs to be servived once a year where it is pulled down and cleaned internally. remenber the transfer belt and drum unit also need to be changed. This should solve the problem. (it takes about 2.5 hours to clean the printer)
