Hi there.
I have ten brand new HP 4350 printers that are all regularly claiming paper jams only in a large tray that has been added as tray 5.
There isn't really a jam and the problem can be fixed by fanning/changing the paper.
I'm pretty sure it's not down to humidity as we turn our paper around quick in the building.

Any ideas please?

Thanks very much.

Try a different brand of paper.

If fanning the paper solves the problem, the issue is probably that the paper you're using has the edges "stuck" together from a bad cutter. They don't cut the sheets one at a time; they cut them a ream at a time, and if there's a burr on a cutter, the paper edges can get stuck together, causing them to stick just enough to try and pull a couple of sheets.

The common denominator in your situation with 10 printers is the paper. I find it highly unlikely you have 10 printers with the same issue like that.

Of course, you could tape a note to the printer that says "Please fan the paper before loading". ;)

Thanks that's really useful. We had OLD 5Si's but then changed them all the 4350s these are much faster and therefor more sensitive I guess?

You have a smiley at the end of that sentence, but I literally do have that sign taped to all our printers. It works.

I know... I know.... I had to literally DRAW in MARKER an envelope on a printer once, to make sure people were loading the envelopes the correct way.
