I got a 4300c from a friend who upgraded to another scanner. I understand that the scanning software for this scanner does not work in an NT enviornment. Fine.

Thats does not matter anyway since I cannot get the USB scanner itself installed on 2000. I went to HPs site and got the 'correct' windows 2000 drivers....no luck. The USB detection knows theres a scanner there, it say its working properly in the device manager, but Photoshop 6, Paint Shop 7 says otherwise. The scanner does not even go through its normal boot sequence when its plugged in.

I know the scanner works, nothing wrong with the hardware.
I am very very proficient in computers, windows, etc... and have tried everything to no avail.

Any one get the scanner working in Windows2000? And how?

Or do I add this to my closet of obsolete technology?

Mr. K

I would try the bundled software.
I have run into a scanner that would not work until it had been setup through one of the bundled programs.

The bundled software pops up a window stating the software does not work under NT only Windows 98
