If the HP Toolbox is loaded you won't be able to print properly from an MS-DOS program - at least on a Win 98 machine with the printer connected to LPT1. A message says there is a conflict with Windows and something else using LPT1. The option to let the MS-DOS program use LPT1 never works. Delete the HP Toolbox through the Control Panel and you are back in business. I'm not sure where this got loaded but it was a damn nuisance trying to figure out what the problem was. No note anywhere that I saw warning about this issue.
