Hi -

Is there a way (at the printer config/settings) to set a print job to "AutoSelect" but when the first tray is empty it should NOT continue to pull paper from additional trays?

We have our letterhead usually in the 2nd tray, and would like the printer to hault once the 1st tray is empty and/or prompt us to add paper.

Thank you.

First, make sure you install the latest software from HP.

On my HP cp1700, this setting is found at:
Properties, General tab, Printing Preferences button, Features tab, Advanced Features button, uncheck Auto Pick from next tray.

Print out a menu map on the printer and locate the autocontinue option. Make sure it is set to off. Check that tray 1 and 2 is not setup on the printer for the same papertype, as the printer then will assume the same paper is in both trays and automatically continue printing from the next available tray.

Thank you smash and hpwiz.

Smash - this particular printer didn't have that selection under the advanced features. However, I did find some other settings that needed to be changed. Thank you.

hpwiz - our auto-continue was set to "ON" which has now been changed to "OFF". Thank you.

I appreciate the helpful tips.
