I am at a loss. When a job is submitted to one of my HP 4000s it will print the document then go “OFFLINE” and report an error 41.3 unexpected paper size. When I push the GO button to bring the printer back online, it will print that document over and over until I turn off the printer. There is nothing in the que as it is doing this.

Does anyone have any ideas that may help me?

Try checking the rear paper stop for proper position and check the status of the 3 white tabs on the front side of the paper tray, and the metal tabs just inside the printer where these tabs stop when tray is installed in machine (these switches determine paper size by combination of the 3 tabs accuating switches), if the paper trays are the same try swapping 2 & 3 and see if the problem follows tray. I have had this problem in the past and found it tough to solve. Good Luck CW

Just to expand on Craig's answer...
There are a couple of white plastic levers on the right rear part of the tray. The blue plastic backstop controls their position. They tell the printer what size paper the tray is set for. For letter sized paper, the top one should be in and the bottom one whould be out. Sometimes the backstop slides back a bit because of a broken tab and causes problems. You can tape it down in the correct position, or they are available as a replacement without buying the whole tray.
