HP 3150 FIXING ERROR

Every few days we are getting the error
PRINTER FIXING ERROR REPLACE FIXING UNIT
on our HP 3150 FAX machine.
Cycling the power will cause any saved faxes to print and the error goes away for a few days.

The unit is about 2 1/2 years old and has been flawless until now. Any suggestions?

A fixing error means that there is a problem with the fixing unit that bonds the toner to the paper. The device can be faulty due to low temp. or it can be due to a damaged halogen bulb inside the fixing unit. The best thing is to try and replace the unit at a service provider, as it is not customer replaceable.
