HP 2300DTN Unable to select trays

Hello,

I'm running a HpLJ2300DTN on a jetdirect card through a NT4 server with users connecting to the printer on Win2000 computers. None of them are able to select the tray they wish to printer from in Word 2000 through File>Printer>Options>Default tray. I've put the permissions of the printer in NT4 to 'Full Control' for 'Everyone' and this still hasn't solved the problem. It seems only myself (Domain Administrator) can do anything to the printer. The users themselves are 'Administrators' on their own W2k workstations.

Try to set the printer up with different paper type and size in the printers control panel. Make your clients pick tray by selecting paper type instead of forcing them to use tray 1 or 2 fx. Make sure that you have reset the NT Forms tab to factory default in the driver on the server also.

Trouble is, everything is greyed out on each workstation so I can't do anything! On the Server, the trays are set as followed:

Tray 1 - Size/Type Unspecified

Tray 2 - A4 Plain

Tray 3 - A4 Plain

There is letter-headed paper in one of the trays just can't remember which one!

If you are using a PCL 6 driver, this is a "typical" problem, as the PCL 6 doesn`t work wery well in mixed OS shared from Win NT4.0 to other Win OS versions. A PCL 5e driver might work better in this case or even an old LJ 4 M Plus if the LJ 2300 PCL 5e fails.

Hi,

Yes i'm aware of that and this is how I normally solve this problem however I can't even change the driver on the workstations as 'all' the options are greyed out!
