Tray 1 on my HP Inkjet 2300 is not lifting the paper. The HP website says that if the "platen is not lifting" it needs repair. This appears to be what is happening so my question is can I "repair the platen"?
Well, I figured this out and if anybody ever reads this here is the solution: Open the top cover and look on the very left at the white gears. On the gear at the very end there is a plastic wheel. It seems that when this gets dirty a variety of paper feed issues arise. I just cleaned it off with some windex and it started working almost perfect.
Now that that is fixed, whenever I print a page, Google.com for example, I get gaps or horizontal white stripes. They aren't on a regular frequency and vary in size.
Well, the good news is because this is an inkjet printer, the horizontal stripes are most likely the printheads are not spraying properly. You can try running a printhead cleaning process, or if that doesn't work, you can blot the printheads on a damp paper towel to free them up. Also, sometimes a forceful shake will get them flowing if the blotting doesn't help.
Gave your suggestions a try and I got the same thing. The whole image is there, there is just a horizontal gap accross the whole page. For example, if I type the word "der" the top half of the d-e-r will print then a 1\8 inch gap then the bottom half of the d-e-r will print. I've seen this on lasers before but not inkjets.
