hp 2300 lost on network..

hp laserjet 2300 was set up on network previously.
through a rj45 to a switch hub.. (also 2 computers connected to that hub).

now it cant see the printer on the network.. cannot find it or connect to it.

any ideas?

Was the printer setup with a static IP address?

If the printer was setup by DHCP and the power went out, the IP address might have been re-assigned to the printer.

Had this problem my self because I let my switch give the IP address to the printer. I went around to all my computers to connect to it after I ran the Connection Page / Config Page.

After the weekend, I found out the power went out, the Switch rebooted and re-assigned my printer IP address from xxx.xxx.xxx. 1 to 2

thats a good thought.
ive had that issue before too.
problem is .
on the config page normally it would show the ip address or the jetdirect card and it doesnt.
i am doing this by remote access too which doesnt help.
ive tried finding it using jetdirect utility and it comes up with a found printer but cant connect.

Do you have access to another printer with the same Jetdirect card?

It might be possible that the Network card is blown and needs to be replaced. I would try to swap it out and then reboot the printer, then test the connection page to see if you get the IP address.

Ok..

it wouldnt even print a menu map.
no light was a flashin on the network port.

removed card reseated card..
reinitialized printer.
replaced cable.
put cable in different port in switch.

got a green light.

reinstalled printer drivers/printer definitions.

it works fine.
