hp 2200 and barcode simms??

I have a new hp2200 which I've set up with a barcode font simm. the printer does'nt seem to undestand the escape sequences on it (if you print a font list it it does'nt print out the bar code). I know the simm works, tried it another printer, I use these simms in hp 4000s and 2100s with no difficulty. Could there be something special about 2200s that they handle esc sequences differently to other hp printers??
