We have installed Windows 2000 professional on three PCs. Each has a HP-1100a printer and the latest lj206en.exe Win2K driver as downloaded from the HP web site.

All three printers have occasional problems with extra characters on appearing on top of, or in place of, the intended text. The problem is erratic and usually doesn't reappear if you reprint the same page. Setting "print TrueType as bitmap" hasn't helped.

In one reoccurring case, a letter will be dropped from a word and the number 5 followed by five characters ending in the dropped letter will be printed on top of the next group of characters. In another case, every "g" was replaced with the number 4 and all incidences of the number "4" were blank. Sometimes extra characters just appear in places where there is no text.

These problems only occur with about 5% of the pages printed.

All three printers worked fine when the machines were running under Win98SE.

Anybody else have this problem...and a solution? I would sure appreciate some suggestions of things to try to solve this problem?
