Hello,

we are doing a backup every week and additionally another one every year. Nor there is a single folder missing and I have to restore it from this 1yr old backup.

How do I do this?

I put the 3 tapes into the tapelibrary and mounted the tapes in ARCserve. Then I've launched the restore-wizard and selected the needed disk. Then the wizard asked me to merge the 3 tapes and I agreed.... it worked for about 30minutes and has shown me the result. In the selected disk there was just one single folder, but there should be about 15 of them.

I asked the guy that made the backup 1 yr ago and he said, that he double-checked it.. the files has to be there.

I thing I have to restore some database or sth to get this old backup to be shown..?! Can someone pls tell me how to do this?

Thanks and regards, meep

In a case like this were there are conflicting opinions (what the ARCserve Merge and old operator are reporting) I think the best thing to do is run a Scan.

Manager > Utilities > Scan.
Set it up to Scan all sessions.
Under Global Options logging select to log all activity.

The Job Log will contain all the files and directories contained in each session.

If it completes with no errors safe to say that is in fact what is in each session. If it is only one file then that's it only one file. Take that log back to the old operator and ask for his log showing that the correct # of files was actually backed up.
