Hey Guys,

I have an real serious Incident and i need to restore some Data where the Retentime is 2 Weeks and the first Files were deleted yesterday from the Catalog(EMM).
Now my Problem. Its an Database Backup with Archivelogs and the last Fullbackup was some days ago. Now i only have some Archivelogs but the Fullbackup is allready outside of the Retentiontime.

How can i rescan or reimport the Data from the Hole Media. I really need to get this data and it must be somehow possible because the data is still on Tape.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Best Regards,

You need to import the tape using the import utility. You will find it in the catalog section of the GUI. You also may have to expire the tape prior to the import but only if there are other valid images on the tape. be aware that there are two phases of the import proceedure.

Hi,

thanks for the quick response.

Is this correct? to expire the Tape i have to run "bpexpdate -m <mediaid> -d 0 ???
and afterwards reimport the Tape?

thanks in advance
and best regards

hi,

update.

i´ve tried the following commands above but i dont get a Index for the expired Tapes. Is there something missing?

regards

Import phase 1 scans the tape for possible images to import.

Import phase 2 reads the "selected" images and populates the catalog (index) with what it finds.

Note: You should have write protected the tape (that expired) before doing anything as it could be over written if left in the tape library before you started the import process.

Did you do phase 1 and phase 2 import processes? Where did your import fail?
