HOWTO: Install .NET on removable drive

Does anyone know how to install Visual Studio .NET on a removable drive? My harddisk is getting full but I have a MO drive with plenty of space but .NET wont allow installing on it. My SCSI bios even set the drive as harddisk 1 (booting from IDE harddisk 0). Someone know how to rig the registry or something? My OS is WinXP.
